Join us for on a hands-on workshop and discover how we care for animals at the Zoo

Spend a full-day with one of our animal welfare experts and dive into the world of animal behaviour, welfare science, and enrichment - the tools that help animals thrive. Through guided observations and interactive activities, you’ll explore how modern zoos use research to give animals the best care possible.

This is your chance to learn how welfare experts make a real difference for animals every day.

And the best bit? Your visit helps Zoos Victoria save local wildlife from extinction.

What you’ll experience:
  • Observe lions, baboons, giraffes, reptiles and more to understand their behaviour and welfare needs
  • Learn how to collect real-world data on animal behaviour like a zoo scientist
  • Discover how modern zoos have evolved and the science behind animal welfare
  • Design your own animal enrichment activity
  • Explore the Five Domains model and what makes good welfare for animals

Please note, the zoo prioritises animal welfare and wellbeing, so participants will not be able to touch or hold any animals during this program.
