Payment and cancellation
Ready to book your excursion? Here's everything you need to know about securing a booking.
Payment
Some schools and education centres may be required to pay on the day. You will be informed prior to your visit. Please check with your finance team before your visit to confirm your payment method.
Payment must be made in a single transaction and is based on the number of young people and adults attending on the day. We accept the following payment options:
- Debit or credit card - payment on the day using a card and a tax receipt will be issued.
- Invoice - in some cases, an invoice may be issued after your visit. Zoos Victoria's ABN is 96 913 959 053.
Cancellation
A cancellation must be made at least 10 business days prior to your booked visit. If notice is not provided by this time, a cancellation fee of $200 will be invoiced. This fee will be waived due to extreme weather or if the booking is rescheduled.
Terms and conditions of entry
To help keep young people safe and ensure a positive experience for everyone, Zoos Victoria’s terms and conditions of entry apply. Please keep the following in mind during your visit:
- Children and students remain the responsibility of their supervising adult at all times - including during workshops, while exploring the zoo and when using the Safari Bus.
- Please respect the comfort and wellbeing of animals and other visitors as your group moves through the zoo.
- Loud noises and sudden movements can be distressing for animals. Ball games and whistles are not permitted.
- At Healesville Sanctuary and Kyabram Fauna Park shops, up to six students may enter at a time with a supervising adult. Please leave student bags outside.
- Zoo staff have emergency management procedures in place to support missing students, first aid and medical situations.
Animal experiences
Zoos Victoria animal experiences discuss and observe animals and interpret their behaviours. We prioritise animal welfare and wellbeing and we do not touch animals. When we develop experiences for visitors, our animals have the choice to participate or not, which supports positive animal welfare outcomes.

No, workshops are free with your zoo admission. You will need to book into your preferred program before your visit.
No, there is a limit of one workshop per group so all visitors have access. Booking one program also allows enough time to explore the zoo as part of your day.
A self-guided excursion gives you the flexibility to explore the zoo with your students at your own pace. This type of excursion does not include a workshop.
No problem. If your group number is only changing by a few, it's okay to let us know on the day. If your group number has changed significantly, please email or call our team and they'll adjust your booking for you.
Yes, absolutely. We have a ratio of free entry for adults based on your student number (see above).
If you have more adults that the ratio, they will be charged a reduced adult concession rate or they are welcome to use their Zoos Victoria Membership for free entry.
Your excursion will take place outdoors so your group should dress for the weather. If extreme weather is predicted, you are welcome to reschedule your zoo visit.
You are most welcome to visit the zoo before your excursion. Show your school booking confirmation at the gate and you will get free entry.
Risk assessments are also available on the Prepare for your excursion page.
