Emergency Wildlife Fund
Help us respond to wildlife in need, every day of the year
At Zoos Victoria, we are so much more than just a zoo. We are a dedicated team of specialists that includes expert vets, veterinary nurses and biologists who have extensive knowledge and a deep commitment to caring for our unique and special local Australian wildlife.
In January 2026 we launched an Emergency Wildlife Fund and we need your urgent support to help us respond to wildlife in distress.
Zoos Victoria’s Emergency Wildlife Fund is raising money to support the care of wildlife in need, onsite or offsite at Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary, Werribee Open Range Zoo or Kyabram Fauna Park.

Zoos Victoria's wildlife experts acted under authority from the Victorian Government to treat injured animals during the bushfires of 2019-20 but, sadly, we don’t need an emergency on this scale to respond to disasters impacting wildlife; it is what drives us daily.
The bushfires of the 2020 summer taught us that we have the expertise, and the power of community support can play a big role in helping all our facilities and staff give the animals we rescue a fighting chance.

Thanks to the donations of supporters and donors to RSPCA Victoria and RSPCA Australia’s Bushfire Appeals following the 2019-2020 Black Summer Bushfires, we have been able to vastly enhance the veterinary hospitals across our zoos, allowing us to save more precious wildlife than ever before, every day of the year.
Zoos Victoria’s expert wildlife response teams stand ready to treat wildlife no matter the emergency, caring for and saving wildlife inside and outside our zoo's walls.
With your support, we can continue our work fighting extinction and responding to animals in distress.
Saving wildlife is not just what we do, it’s who we are.
